institutions, the program takes place in Milan the heart of Italy’s operatic and artistic tradition. Students train in
professional rehearsal spaces and workshops, gaining first hand experience in world-class theatres where opera
history is made.
About the Course
The Italian Opera Summer Program in Milan is designed for creative high school students passionate about music, theatre, and performance. In partnership with Teatro alla Scala, Teatro Arcimboldi, and Piccolo Teatro, this immersive two-week experience offers a rare opportunity to train with world-class artists and technicians. Participants gain hands-on experience in singing, directing, costume ,and set design — developing
both artistic and technical skills while staging their own original opera in the heart of Italy’s cultural capital.

Course 1: SINGING & COSTUMES

Build a strong foundation in vocal technique, Italian diction, and stage acting while exploring the visual and stylistic elements of opera.
Daily workshops at Teatro alla Scala and Teatro Arcimboldi guide participants through ensemble singing, character development, movement, and expressive performance. At the same time, students dive into costume history and design, learning to interpret a libretto through fabric, colour, and silhouette, with hands-on sessions in concept boards, sketching ,fittings, and basic stage makeup.
Course 2: DIRECTING & SET DESIGN

13 - 17 July 2026
Step into the creative and technical roles of directing, stage craft, and production design. Workshops cover scene blocking, libretto interpretation, lighting, sound, set construction, and stage management. Participants collaborate on model-box storyboarding ,props, and scenic integration, while coordinating costumes and makeup. Staggered and dress rehearsals, where students bring their own original short opera to life for a final show case ,gaining practical experience in all aspects of mounting a professional production.
