This 2 week program takes place in Rome at the facilities of the School of Aerospace Engineering, one of Europe’s most historic institutions dedicated to aerospace research and education.
Founded in 1926, the school celebrates 100 years of aerospace innovation and has trained generations of engineers who now work across Italy’s aerospace sector, including leading agencies such as Agenzia spaziale Italiana (ASI) and Agenzia Spaziale Europea (ESA). Students will experience a real academic environment at the heart of Italy’s aerospace ecosystem, while also discovering the cultural richness of one of World’s most iconic cities.
About the Course
Designed for students passionate about space exploration, aviation and engineering. Hosted in partnership with Università Sapienza’s School of Aerospace Engineering and one of the world’s leading agencies such as Agenzia Spaziale Italiana e Agenzia Spaziale Europea. Participants will design and build their own rocket prototype, culminating in a rocket launch experience.
During the program students explore the fundamentals of rocket engineering and space technologies through lectures, laboratory activities and project-based learning. Participants will learn how rockets work, how propulsion systems are designed and how aerospace engineers plan space missions. Using simulation tools such as Open Rocket, students will model rocket trajectories and understand flight dynamics, while also developing Arduino-based systems used to control rocket electronics and collect flight data. The program culminates in the development of a rocket prototype designed and built by the students.
