If you're European and you are planning to visit the UK, there's a new travel requirement you need to be aware of. The UK is introducing the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system, which will be essential for most visitors, including those who were previously able to travel without a visa.
The scheme has already been introduced since November 2024 for non European Countries but it will now be mandatory for European Countries too.
What is the ETA? The ETA is a digital travel permission that travellers will need to apply for before their journey to the UK. It will cost £10 and will be valid for multiple trips over two years, making it a straightforward option for frequent visitors.
Key Dates to Keep in Mind:
27 November 2024: Non-Europeans can start applying.
8 January 2025: ETA becomes mandatory for non-European travellers.
5 March 2025: Europeans can start applying.
2 April 2025: ETA becomes mandatory for European travellers.
