The School is set in over 170 acres of beautiful landscaped gardens and extensive woodland close to the town centre of High Wycombe. On the edge of the Chiltern Hills is quick, easy access to Oxford and London and only 30 minutes from Heathrow Airport.


About the Course

The Programme has been designed to be:


Immersive: the best way to improve language skills whilst learning new knowledge, making new friends and experiencing boarding life

Intensive: comprehensive, fast paced and getting the most out each day

International: providing global perspectives and learning about other cultures

Inspiring: creating meaningful memories and desire to make difference in the world


The Programme is 14 days long and includes:


15 hours of language lesson per week

  • Consists of several thematic English language studies, applying context & language integrated learning methodology to the teaching, allowing students to develop their language proficiency while studying a range of topics & applying their skills to something interesting and relevant

  • Teachers also adopt problem based learning model to help students to apply their language proficiency, knowledge and skills to meaningful real like tasks & challenges

  • Language Learning is supported by afternoon electives which create a holistic learning approach that supports the overall progression of each student

  • Topics include British Culture, English for Academic Purposes and Examinations & 21st Century Skills


8 hours of electives weekly

Each student have the opportunity to select from four electives and designed to stretch & challenge them so they learn to develop and grow in confidence, enabling them to have an unforgettable experience and return home from Summer Programme better prepared for their future

  • Leadership & Sustainability (embark on a transformative journey delving into essential leadership skills while exploring sustainability principle)

  • Coding & Game Design ( delve deeper into the world of coding, robotics & game design improving critical & creative thinking skills)

  • Performing Arts ( take a captivating journey through the realms of creativity and expression)

  • Sports, Health & Wellbeing ( this transformative course integrates language development with the essential principle of physical health, mental wellbeing and importance of adopting an active lifestyle

About the School

The campus has excellent facilities, including specialist classrooms, a large sports centre with a swimming pool, fitness centre and sports halls, first-class boarding houses, extensive outdoor sports facilities and a newly refurbished performing arts centre.


Accommodation

Students live in their newest residential boarding houses, Pitt and Rubens. The accommodation offers bedrooms for two to four students, and every bedroom has an ensuite bathroom. The kitchens are well-equipped, and there are common areas for relaxing at the start and end of the day. The accommodation also benefits from outdoor space for the summer.


Catering

During their stay at Wycombe Abbey, students are provided with all meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner in the main school dining room along with nutritional snacks throughout the day. Packed lunches are available for excursion days. Caterers are able to cater for dietary requirements and ensure that all meals are healthy and nutritious.


Excursions, Sports & Activities

Students will have at least three full days and one half day of excursions that will take them to see the sights of UKs favourite destinations including London, Oxford, Windsor or Cambridge. The excursions will be both educational as well as entertaining.

Sports and Activities take place in the afternoons and evenings. Students will have use of the schools sports facilities including 25m swimming pool, large sports centre, dance studio, climbing wall & golf simulator. Each day there will be time available for sports and activities.
