The school has four recently refurbished boarding houses, all on the safe and self-contained campus. The attractions of Toronto are all within easy reach for students to enjoy – the city centre is just 40 minutes away. Within your two-week stay, you will enjoy a visit to the famous CN tower and an excursion to the breathtaking Niagara Falls – including a helicopter ride so you can take in the unforgettable view.

THE LOCATION

St. Andrews College is a leading Canadian independent school, with a long history and tradition. The school’s 100 acre campus offers a beautiful setting for an unforgettable summer experience, combining historic architecture with modern teaching facilities on a beautiful green campus. The school has traditionally-styled boarding houses with modern interiors, all on the safe and selfcontained campus. The campus features fantastic on-site sports facilities including a 25m indoor swimming pool, an arts centre, a gymnasium and large playing fields for outdoor sports. The attractions of Toronto are all within easy reach as the city centre is just 40 minutes away. During their time at our Toronto centre, students will enjoy a visit to the famous CN Tower and an excursion to the breath-taking Niagara Falls for an unforgettable view, taking a helicopter ride over the world famous waterfalls.

 

ARRIVAL  AND DEPARTURES

All arrivals and departures should be on Sundays. If students wish to arrive or depart on a Saturday, one way supplementary fees will be charged. Saturday arrivals and departures are arranged subject to availability. Please let us know in advance so we can arrange suitable airport transfers .

Please note: Courses run from Sunday to Sunday. All prices are based on arrivals and departures on Sundays. Arrival and departure on other days is only available at limited centres and is subject to availability. Non-Sunday arrival or departure will incur a supplementary charge of £100 or US/Can$200 in addition to the extra night charge, available on request.

Unaccompanied Minors: Any student travelling as an Unaccompanied Minor (UM) must pay our UM fee of £50/US$100/Can$100 per single journey

Airport bus transfer: The school is now able to offer a bus transfer service from certain airports. Students will travel with other students, and adult supervision, on a dedicated minibus that will leave the airport at 4pm each Sunday while the course runs. It will leave the centre at 10am every Sunday to return to the airport. This option may be subject to availability.

 

CLASSES & MEALS

Classes take place in buildings on campus, just a short walk from the residence. All meals are taken in the university dining room except for on full-day excursion days when a meal ticket is usually provided.

ENGLISH PLUS LANGUAGE

Our English Plus Language Options are available at this centre including Speaking and Writing, University Studies Taster, and Performing Arts.

  • Content: Comprehensive theme-based syllabus focusing on language development and communicative competence.
  • Certificate: An end of course certificate and full report is given to all students who have taken part in the programme at an awards ceremony.

ACTIVITIES & EXCURSIONS
A full afternoon and evening activity programme is provided. There are a range of activities per week including discos, film nights, karaoke, soccer, swimming, basketball, arts and crafts, shopping, and trips to the beaches and local attractions. There will also be at least one full-day and three half-day excursions per week included in the package price. Destinations include a helicopter tour over Niagara Falls, Canada’s Wonderland

BREAKAGE MEDICAL DEPOSITS AND GUARDIANSHIP FEES

Breakages and Medical Deposits: Please note that a deposit  is payable in cash on arrival, and will be collected from all students on the first day of their course.

The breakages deposit will be returned to students with a deduction made if any for loss of keys and/or personal damage to any property of the school has occurred.

Students studying the US and Canada are also requested to pay a refundable deposit  to cover the insurance excess payable for any medical expenses in the event that the student is ill and requires treatment.

Please note that a guardianship fee of CAD$100.00 is payable on all junior courses in Toronto and Vancouver. Junior students must obtain a Canadian Junior Guardianship Certificate through our agency, these will be processed by the school on 1st March, 2nd April 1st May and 1st June at a cost of CAN$15 or on other dates at CAN$50.

 

RULES FOR STUDENTS

Students must follow the law of the land, which means  that

no student can buy alcohol (it is illegal to buy alcohol in the USA if you are under the age of 21):

 no student can buy cigarettes/tobacco (it is illegal to buy cigarettes/tobacco in the USA if you are under the age of 18):

The use of alcohol and drugs is strictly forbidden and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.  No smoking is permitted while on the course.  This applies to all students.

Students are expected to keep their bedrooms tidy and put their litter in bins provided.  Students are not permitted to leave the campus unsupervised.

The school reserves the right to terminate without notice the course of any student who persistently misconducts him/herself during the programme, or who fails to meet the attendance requirements of the course. There is no refund of fees to students whose courses are terminated in this way.

 

WHAT TO BRING

Students should bring summer clothes as well as waterproof jackets, swimwear, trainers (sports shoes) for outside usage, white -soled sports shoes for use in the sports hall, and a towel.. Students should also bring, an alarm clock and hairdryer if needed. Students should remember to bring an adaptor for their mobile phone charger and other electrical items. We advise that students do not bring valuable items such as expensive watches, jewellery, valuable electronic items, expensive cameras etc.

However, valuables and items such as passports and airline tickets can be handed over to the school staff for safe keeping. The school cannot accept responsibility for the loss of items or money unless given to them for safe keeping.
