Summer Course – New York – Ages 12 -17

The New York Residential Summer Center is located on the safe, attractive campus of Concordia College in the affluent village of Bronxville. Bronxville is green and prosperous with a real village feel yet is just 30 minutes by train from Grand Central Station, and the excitement and bustle of New York City. JFK, La Guardia and Newark airports are all less than 1 hour by coach or taxi.

This  Summer Course is a fully-inclusive programme designed specifically for children aged 10-17. It will improve your child’s English, whilst offering a wide range of sports, activities and excursions for them to enjoy. They will also have the chance to make friends from all over the world and experience new cultures, and do all of this in a safe, secure campus environment.

ACCOMMODATION

On-campus residence

On-campus residential accommodation in comfortable twin rooms with modern shared bathrooms and common areas on each floor. Girls and boys are in separate accommodation areas or on different floors.

Meal plan

Meals are served in the on-campus dining hall. We can cater for vegetarian and other dietary requirements on request.

Summer Course: Full-board; Breakfast, hot lunch, and dinner are provided every day, with packed lunches or meal vouchers on excursion days.

ENGLISH LESSONS

There are 15 hours of English lessons per week in international classes.

Your child will be tested on arrival and placed in the right class for their age and English ability.

The lessons will often include games, songs, group work, films, projects and magazine work to make learning more fun.

There are regular progress tests throughout the course, and at the end your child will receive a certificate to mark their learning achievement.

TYPICAL ACTIVITIES:

Students will benefit from a full weekly activity program, mostly on campus.

Typical activities will include American football, arts and crafts, basketball, baseball, bingo, casino night, dance, disco, dodgeball, fashion show, games night, karaoke, mall visits, mini-Olympics, movie night, quiz nights, soccer, table tennis, talent show, tennis and volleyball.

 

TYPICAL EXCURSIONS
  • hree full-day excursions per week. Most excursions will be sightseeing and discovery tours in New York. Attractions include:

    An overnight stay in Boston can be added to your program at the beginning or end of the program (subject to minimum numbers).

Meet and Greet Service: Prices include Meet and Greet on arrival and check-in on departure.

Unaccompanied minors: Please note unaccompanied minors will be charged £65 in UK Residential Centres,

Economy Transfer Service: Students on Heathrow Economy transfers may have to wait 2–3 hours at the airport before check-in or after arrival. Students will be supervised by Kings Staff during this time. Groups and individuals may be on the same coach/ mini bus.

Flights must arrive between 10.00 – 18.00 and depart between 11.00 – 19.00.

  • Bath (Downside): Heathrow Economy is available every Wednesday from 3 July to 21 August.
  • Cheltenham: Heathrow Economy is available every Wednesday from 3 July to 14 August.
  • Bournemouth: Heathrow Economy is available every Sunday from 9 June to 25 August.
  • London (Beckenham): Heathrow Economy is available every Sunday from 23 June to 25 August.

Flight times: Flights must arrive between 8.00 and 22.00.
