San Francisco is a very popular destination for both tourists and students.  The Bay area boasts some of the most beautiful scenery in the USA and renowned for sports, entertainment and the arts.  The San Francisco Bay area is surrounded by beautiful beaches and enjoys mild weather all year round.

Situated approximately 40 kilometres from San Francisco, the award-winning Cal State East Bay University is the perfect place to study and play. The junior camp takes place on the beautiful self-contained campus on a hill overlooking the East Bay.

The campus offers high quality teaching and leisure facilities. These include modern classrooms, all with digital projectors, and plenty of outdoor space to relax and enjoy our social programme. Accommodation is in a modern residence with twin rooms and communal areas. On-site food courts and shops complete the university experience! This is a relaxed, fun and caring young learner experience, on a self-contained campus offering excellent levels of supervision. THE LOCATION

The California State University East Bay campus is located in the scenic Hayward Hills with spectacular views over San Francisco Bay, and only 40 minutes from the centre of the city. Listed in the Princeton Review as one of the leading West Coast Universities, the campus offers high quality teaching and leisure facilities. These include modern classrooms, all with digital projectors, and plenty of outdoor space to relax and enjoy our varied social programme. Accommodation is in a modern residence with twin rooms and communal areas. On-site food courts and shops complete the university experience. The residence is well-equipped and has a games room and fitness room for students over the age of 16. This is a relaxed, fun and caring young learner experience, on a self-contained campus offering excellent levels of supervision. Outside of the classroom students can enjoy fantastic trips and activities in and around the beautiful bay area.

 

ARRIVAL  AND DEPARTURES

All arrivals and departures should be on Sundays. If students wish to arrive or depart on a Saturday, one way supplementary fees will be charged. Saturday arrivals and departures are arranged subject to availability. Please let us know in advance so we can arrange suitable airport transfers .

Please note: Courses run from Sunday to Sunday. All prices are based on arrivals and departures on Sundays. Arrival and departure on other days is only available at limited centres and is subject to availability. Non-Sunday arrival or departure will incur a supplementary charge of £100 or US/Can$200 in addition to the extra night charge, available on request.

Unaccompanied Minors: Any student travelling as an Unaccompanied Minor (UM) must pay our UM fee of £50/US$100/Can$100 per single journey

Airport bus transfer: The school is now able to offer a bus transfer service from certain airports. Students will travel with other students, and adult supervision, on a dedicated minibus that will leave the airport at 4pm each Sunday while the course runs. It will leave the centre at 10am every Sunday to return to the airport. This option may be subject to availability.

 

CLASSES & MEALS

Classes take place in the teaching buildings on the campus close to the residence. All meals are taken in the dining room near the residence. A packed lunch or meal ticket will be provided for full-day excursions.

 ENGLISH PLUS:

English Plus Language options are available at this centre including Language Workshops, Exam Skills, and Performing Arts. Tennis: Optional tennis coaching; learning about strokes, serves and tactics.

ENGLISH PLUS TENNIS

Students at this school can opt to take our Surfing option and receive 5 hours of instruction per week from qualified local instructors. The course is available for a supplementary charge per week.

Optional Extra -  5 hours coaching per week - US$ 130 per week.

ACTIVITIES & EXCURSIONS
A full afternoon and evening activity programme is provided. There are a range of activities per week including discos, film nights, karaoke, soccer, swimming, cinema trips, international and talent nights, Vegas night and quiz nights. There will also be at least two full-day and two half-day excursions per week included in the package price. Destinations include San Francisco for local sightseeing, Alcatraz Prison Island, the Golden Gate Bridge, Pier 39 and trips on the famous Muir Woods.

BREAKAGE MEDICAL DEPOSITS AND GUARDIANSHIP FEES

Breakages and Medical Deposits: Please note that a deposit  is payable in cash on arrival, and will be collected from all students on the first day of their course.

The breakages deposit will be returned to students with a deduction made if any for loss of keys and/or personal damage to any property of the school has occurred.

Students studying the US and Canada are also requested to pay a refundable deposit  to cover the insurance excess payable for any medical expenses in the event that the student is ill and requires treatment.

Please note that a guardianship fee of CAD$100.00 is payable on all junior courses in Toronto and Vancouver. Junior students must obtain a Canadian Junior Guardianship Certificate through our agency, these will be processed by the school on 1st March, 2nd April 1st May and 1st June at a cost of CAN$15 or on other dates at CAN$50.

 

RULES FOR STUDENTS Students must follow the law of the land, which means  that nstudent can buy alcohol (it is illegal to buy alcohol in the USA if you are under the age of 21):  nstudent can buy cigarettes/tobacc(it is illegal to buy cigarettes/tobaccin the USA if you are under the age of 18): The use of alcohol and drugs is strictly forbidden and will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Students found to be in possession of alcohol or drugs may be reported to the police and their course terminated. No smoking is permitted while on the course.  This applies to all students. Students are expected to keep their bedrooms tidy and put their litter in bins provided.  Students are not permitted to leave the campus unsupervised. The school reserves the right to terminate without notice the course of any student who persistently misconducts him/herself during the programme, or who fails to meet the attendance requirements of the course. There is no refund of fees to students whose courses are terminated in this way.

 

WHAT TO BRING Students should bring summer clothes as well as waterproof jackets, swimwear, trainers (sports shoes) for outside usage, white -soled sports shoes for use in the sports hall, and a towel.. Students should also bring, an alarm clock and hairdryer if needed. Students should remember to bring an adaptor for their mobile phone charger and other electrical items. We advise that students do not bring valuable items such as expensive watches, jewellery, valuable electronic items, expensive cameras etc. However, valuables and items such as passports and airline tickets can be handed over to the school staff for safe keeping. The school cannot accept responsibility for the loss of items or money unless given to them for safe keeping.
