Oxford College Experience – Ages 14 -17

Brasenose College was founded in 1509 and sits on Radcliffe Square at the heart of historic Oxford. Against a backdrop of college spires and green lawns, students can study, relax and enjoy the unique experience of an Oxford summer education

Residing at one of the most traditional Oxford University colleges, students experience a unique educational environment. As a result of the dynamic tuition, students refine their social eloquence and mastery in the specificity of the English language whilst deepening their knowledge and understanding of International Relations, PPE (Politics, Philosophy and Economics), Entrepreneurship, Journalism, Law, Medicine and Engineering.

Brasenose College is ideally situated in the centre of Oxford, overlooking the magnificent Radcliffe Square. Many of Oxford’s major attractions are just a stone’s throw from the college, including the spectacular Bodleian Library, the tranquil Christ Church Meadows and many of Oxford’s finest museums.

 

THE SCHOOL

The Oxford College Experience programme is an ideal way for students to immerse themselves in English with full concentration on the course. Students sleep, dine and study within the college.

THE COLLEGE

TheCollege is ideally situated in the centre of Oxford, overlooking the magnificent Radcliffe Square. Many of Oxford’s major attractions are just a stone’s throw from the college, including the spectacular Bodleian Library, the tranquil Christ Church Meadows and many of Oxford’s finest museums
This English course offers a unique glimpse into Oxford college life, giving students the opportunity to study, dine and sleep within the historic walls of Brasenose College.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all provided in the college’s wood panelled dining hall and each student has their own single bedroom, equipped with a desk, chair and washbasin.
Shower rooms are shared by a maximum of 4 students. WiFi is available.

 

PROGRAMME

Located in the privileged setting of Brasenose College, this inspirational course sets students onto a career path of opportunity and achievement. Students live in the college and all lessons take place in college rooms. The focus of the morning lessons is to improve students’ academic English skills. The afternoon lessons are subject-specific. Students choose a different subject each week from:

  • International Relations
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Medicine – Politics, Philosophy and Economics
  • Law
  • Engineering

The Oxford experience

Oxford in the summer offers students an unforgettable taste of university life, including outdoor activities in the city’s open spaces and a wealth of cultural enrichment in the form of museums, galleries and breathtaking architecture. On Saturdays, there is a full-day excursion

Foundation course The minimum level to take this course is B2 (upperintermediate). All students are interviewed prior to the course to assess their suitability. Students who do not meet the minimum criteria can take the Oxford College Experience Foundation course, with a simplified curriculum, but the same format. Courses available at Foundation level: Entrepreneurship and International Relations.

 

CULTURAL PROGRAMME AND ACTIVITIES 

During their language stay in Oxford, students have the opportunity to spend a day at Blenheim Palace or in London. Relaxation evenings are also organised: a walk on the typical flat-bottomed boats on the Thames, an open-air theatre or visits to the Colleges are all opportunities to explore Oxford.
TRAVEL AND LOCATION

A return transfer is included in the course price to guarantee a comfortable and hassle-free journey to and from Oxford. A member of the school team will be waiting at Heathrow airport, Gatwick airport or St Pancras station, from where students will be safely transported to Brasenose College by taxi or minicoach.
