This centre is based at University College London (UCL) and the University of Westminster, both ideally located in the heart of the capital and perfect for more independent learners.

With the Westminster classrooms just a short walk away from our UCL residence in fashionable Bloomsbury, historically known as the intellectual and artistic quarter of London, this junior centre offers the best of all worlds. It is the ideal place for students looking for the London university experience in a supervised yet more independent environment.

The campus offers excellent learning and recreational facilities combined with an exciting activity programme, allowing students to experience everything London has to offer. Excursions include visits to some of the city’s top attractions such as the London Eye and the Tower of London.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURES

All arrivals and departures should be on Sundays. If students wish to arrive or depart on a Saturday, one way supplementary fees will be charged.

Saturday arrivals and departures are arranged subject to availability. Please let us know in advance so we can arrange suitable airport transfers.

Please note: Courses run from Sunday to Sunday.

All prices are based on arrivals and departures on Sundays. Arrival and departure on other days is only available at limited centres and is subject to availability. Non-Sunday arrival or departure will incur a supplementary charge of £100 or US/Can$200 in addition to the extra night charge, available on request.

Unaccompanied Minors: Any student travelling as an Unaccompanied Minor (UM) must pay our UM fee of £50/US$100/Can$100 per single journey

MEALS

All meals are provided in the large, comfortable cafeterias on campus except on excursions when a packed-lunch is given to all students . Wholesome and varied food is served and special dietary requirements can be catered for. Please advise us at the time of enrolment if a student has any special dietary requirements. Please contact us for a sample menu.

 

WHAT TO BRING

Students should bring summer clothes as well as waterproof jackets, swimwear, trainers (sports shoes) for outside usage, white -soled sports shoes for use in the sports hall, and a towel.. Students should also bring, an alarm clock and hairdryer if needed. Students should remember to bring an adaptor for their mobile phone charger and other electrical items. We advise that students do not bring valuable items such as expensive watches, jewellery, valuable electronic items, expensive cameras etc.

However, valuables and items such as passports and airline tickets can be handed over to the school staff for safe keeping. The school cannot accept responsibility for the loss of items or money unless given to them for safe keeping.

 

ACTIVITY PROGRAMMES

All Residential courses include a comprehensive Activity Programme of excursions, sports and activities – Full activity programme every afternoon and evening, including a variety of sports and other activities

One full-day and one half-day excursions per week. The school reserves the right to cancel or to offer substitute activities on the optional activities programmes in the event of fewer than 10 students opting for any individual activity

BREAKAGE MEDICAL DEPOSITS AND GUARDIANSHIP FEES

Breakages and Medical Deposits: Please note that a deposit of £80 (Canterbury, Cambridge, London, Nottingham and Southampton), US$100 (Florida, Harvard, New York, Philadelphia, San Diego, San Francisco, and Yale) and CAN$100 (Toronto and Vancouver) or equivalent sum in Euros is payable in cash on arrival, and will be collected from all students on the first day of their course.

The breakages deposit will be returned to students with a deduction made if any for loss of keys and/or personal damage to any property of the school has occurred.

Students studying the US and Canada are also requested to pay a refundable deposit of US/CAN$100 to cover the insurance excess payable for any medical expenses in the event that the student is ill and requires treatment.

Please note that a guardianship fee of CAD$100.00 is payable on all junior courses in Toronto and Vancouver.

SPECIALISED COURSES

This fantastic new courses for summer 2018 offer students the chance to study specialised skills for a variety of industries including technology and business. These courses aim to help develop skills for future careers and allow students to try something completely new. Each of these Specialised Courses is a three-week course, offering 60 lessons of focused training and development sessions. The specialised lessons are supplemented by 6 lessons (5 hours) of general English on 2 afternoons. Specialised course students will mix in with general programme students for meals and some activities. There will be some alternative activities and excursions for students on a specialised course, which will relate to their studies. English for Future Coders

While studying coding with us, you can: Improve your understanding of how websites work Learn how to use HTML: the internet language Create website pages Add functionality and website features Invent a game or app and adding development features to it All of the topics are brought together in an overall project running throughout the course. Students on this course will also have the opportunity to take part in talks by qualified coders and visit tech companies.
