Journalism for Beginners

During his 20-year career in journalism Greg Watts has written for The Times and The Guardian and reported from Iraq, Russia and Israel. In this short course he explores what journalism is and how it is changing. He also shows how to write news stories and features and how to become a journalist in your local community.

Greg Watts has established an excellent reputation as a journalist, author, teacher and public relations adviser. He has written for The Times, The Guardian, Evening Standard, and many other publications, and has reported from Iraq, Russia, Italy, Lebanon, Israel and the Palestinian Territories.

His TV and radio appearances include CNN, Sky, ITN, BBC, and Al-Jazeera.  Greg He has written a dozen books, including biographies of Rembrandt and Mother Teresa. He teaches journalism at Birkbeck College, University of London, and runs creative writing workshops. He is a member of The Society of Authors The National Association of Writers in Education and the National Association for Literature Development. He has also taken visitors on walking tours into what he calls ‘those secret corners of London that are never mentioned on the pages of tourist brochures or in travel books’.
