Ramsgate is located in the South East of England in the county of Kent, the Garden of England, famous for its apple and cherry orchards, green fields and pleasant rolling hills. It is only 25 kilometres away from the famous cathedral city of Canterbury and all around are fascinating historical villages.

Ramsgate is peaceful and safe; it is an ideal centre for the serious student to study and relax. In Ramsgate people still have time to stop and talk and the absence of any other schools means that our foreign guests are still greeted warmly as friends.  The weather is one of the best  in England - one of the highest amounts of sunshine and nearly the lowest amount of rain.

Ramsgate is an attractive seaside town with many beautiful old buildings, a colourful Royal Harbour and a population of 42,000. It is a busy port and shopping centre with many sports facilities in the town and surrounding area. It is a small, traditional and relaxing town that is a perfect place for students to learn and develop.

  • 12 to 17

This school is located in a quiet residential area less than 10 minutes walk from the town centre. The School is in an attractive nineteenth century square overlooking public tennis courts and the harbour. The main buildings date from 1814 and although they have been completely modernised, still retain their charm.   Classes and activities will take place across the square in one of the school buildings with spacious, modem classrooms. Also across the square is the school's Clubroom with a range of facilities including a self-service restaurant, disco, and pool table.

Families in Ramsgate are very well known to us and some entertain students all year round, making them very welcoming to new students that enter their homes. Students will be truly immersed in the family environment: eating with the family seven days a week, attending evening activities during the week and staying with their homestay family on Saturday and Sunday evenings, allowing them to get to know the family better and giving them the opportunity to improve their conversation skills in a natural environment. Most of the accommodation is within a 15 minute walk from the school.

Host families will provide students with a breakfast each day and all evening meals during the week. A supplement of £27 is payable for lunches which are usually in the school’s own clubroom. All junior students ( 12 to 15 year old) must have full board.

Students receive 3 hours actual teaching per day, total 15 hours per week. Residential Courses have morning lessons and afternoon sports and activities.  All members of a group must have the same course of lessons.

The safety of our junior students is our prime concern. We ensure that they are always under the supervision of the school's trained staff whether in class or participating in activities. Home-stay junior students are placed in experienced families.  Each centre has a junior liaison officer responsible for overall supervision.   Social Club excursion tickets are sold to junior students aged 15 and under on the condition that they agree to stay with the staff escort, group leader or another responsible adult at all times.  For those kids residing with families, after full day coach trips we arrange for students to leave the coach close to their families and after evening activities. Activity Leaders will ensure that their students get home safely.

NOTE: Please note that children aged 10 and 11 must have a Residential Course.

POCKET MONEY Students taking a Residential Course need only bring their personal spending money - everything else is included. Student's pocket money may be deposited with the centre either before or on arrival. Notice of 2 days must be given when large amounts of pocket money are required.

All courses include a comprehensive Activity Programme of excursions, sports and activities. The programmes are run by our resident Activity Leaders and their teams. The school reserves the right to amend the activity programme according to prevailing circumstances and to substitute one activity for another. The replacement will be of equal or greater value. The school also reserves the right to change the order of activities . Tickets are non-transferable. Booking for an activity programme or additional trips must normally be for the complete group. We cannot guarantee a choice of Social Club activities for reservations made after April 15th.

Activities at Churchill House School are the following:

  • Dance
  • Drama
  • Football
  • Arts
  • Tennis
  • Badminton
  • Shopping
