Celtic FC Football Academy + English – Glasgow – Ages 11-18

City of Glasgow College, Riverside Campus offers a dynamic, lively and friendly learning environment.

In the SAC football training camp, you can train like the professionals and learn all the techniques and tactics of football, alongside camp mates of all nationalities in a healthy environment.

The Football + English program consists of 15 hours of training per week combined with 15 hours of English w eekly so that the youngsters have fun playing football at the same time as studying English Language. The camp is held at the City of Glasgow College campus which is situated in Glasgow city centre.
The students will also benefit from weekly presentations about health, nutrition and fitness, being a footballer in a foreign country and the importance of English by qualified football professionals. There is also the opportunity to play football matches against local teams and tour the famous Celtic Park.

The coaching takes place at Celtic FC’s Barrowfield training ground. Coaching sessions will be delivered by Celtic FC Academy coaching staff.
The coaches and assistants are accredited and qualified to work as coaches by UEFA and all have extensive experience as football coaches to children and teenagers in a multicultural training environment.

THE LOCATION

THE SCHOOL

City of Glasgow College, Riverside Campus offers a dynamic, lively and friendly learning environment.

The accommodation is situated on Thistle Street on the banks of the River Clyde, next to Glasgow Green,only a few minutes walk from the city centre. The classrooms. sports hall and eating facilities are based at our Cathedral Street buildings which is a short 15 minute walk. Students benefit from a range of first class facilities including an onsite sports centre, computer and wi-fi access and students lounges.

 

COURSES

Teachers deliver a personalised programme designed  to develop the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. They aim to increase student's awareness of English grammar and to extend their vocabulary. In  class students will work in pairs or small groups so they have the chance to speak as much English as possible. Teachers plan and prepare their lessons so that they are interactive and motivating, therefore students  will have a lot of fun in class. At the end of the course, students receive a certificate indicating the progress they have made.

Students will have to do a standard placement test at the start of the course, all teaching material is provided, there are 15 hours of classes a week. Classes are held in the mornings and are limited to a maximum of 15 students, ensuring optimum learning conditions.

There is a variety of student centred, interactive learning activities and resources and well planned English Language lessons that encourage the development of reading, writing, listening and speaking, a range of learning approaches and activities to meet the needs of all. Learning approaches  reflect that students have different preferred learning styles. There are opportunities for students to work in a variety of groupings: as individuals, in pairs, small groups and as a whole class and a  range of high quality extra-curricular activities which allow the students to develop their English Language skills in a more informal context.There is also an accompanied half day and full day excursion each week. Successful students are awarded a ‘Certificate of Completion’ detailing achievements and skill levels.

 

ACCOMMODATION

En-suite Accommodation

With 200 bed spaces, the provision will include en-suite student bedrooms with communal kitchen/living facilities. The rooms provide space for a larger than average bed, a desk and carefully planned storage. Student lounges and laundry are also be contained within the residences. All open plan spaces and communal areas within the building benefit from clear views in and out through glazed facades.

The new CGC campus offers students the opportunity to experience an exceptional academic environment in a truly unique setting.

CARE AND WELFARE

The aim of the school's  staff, at all times, is to ensure that its visitors enjoy every aspect of Scotland from the moment they meet you at the airport until they wave goodbye as students return home.

The safety and security of visitors is of critical importance  the safety and happiness of  students is the school's priority during their stay with us in Scotland.

Every member of staff is on hand to ensure that students are happy in their studies and in their everyday life . Staff  are ready to offer advice and they are easy to talk to. There is a dedicated Welfare Coordinator on each campus 24 hours a day to help students with any matters.

Each centres offers a range of first class facilities and resources that are utilised by their talented, well trained and knowledgeable activity staff to provide sports, creative arts, and entertaining evening activities to suit all ages and abilities.

This School offers a wide variety of indoor and outdoor sporting activities that have been developed to meet the needs of all students regardless of gender, age or ability.

Sports activities are offered on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 2pm - 5pm .

Arts and Crafts 

Highly skilled staff offer a range of creative arts workshops throughout the duration of the summer. These workshops are limited to small numbers to ensure that the maximum benefit is gained by all students who participate. Students are encouraged to perform or display their work to staff and students.

Evening Activities

Evening activities commence every day at 8.00pm and go on until 10.30pm. These activities are designed to allow students from different countries to socialise and make friends and of course practice their English in a more relaxed and informal atmosphere.

All activities are designed to allow each student to practice and develop their English skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing.

The health and safety of each student is paramount therefore we ensure that we always have a  supervision ratio of 1:25. This ratio also ensures that each student gets the maximum enjoyment from each activity.

 

EXCURSIONS

A very important part of a visit to Scotland is soaking up the history and atmosphere of this proud and vibrant nation. The school, through years of experience, tries to ensure that their visitors experience as much as possible of the culture and mystery of Scotland.

We therefore ensure that students see such special places as:

  • The historic and beautiful City of Edinburgh, the Capital of Scotland.
  • The vibrant and 'New' Glasgow, City of Culture.
  • Stirling, a City of Mystery, the Castle and the Wallace Monument.
  • The Town of St Andrews, 'The Home of Golf', not to be missed.
  • Loch Lomond and The Trossachs, the heart and soul of Scotland.

In addition to these excursions there are a variety of walks and tours organised at each of our centres to local places of interest.

 

DAMAGE DEPOSIT

On arrival, every student is required to pay a deposit of £40 against possible damage or loss of keys. This deposit will be refunded on departure providing that no damage or loss of keys has taken place.

 

EXTRA CHARGES

There is an extra charge of £75 for unaccompanied minors
