THE LOCATION

Stylish and upbeat, Glasgow truly is one of Europe's most cosmopolitan cities and one of the world's most desirable destinations in which to study English. Glasgow is also the  largest and most vibrant city in Scotland and it offers something for everyone, from attractive, well-maintained parks, breathtaking Victorian architecture, a fantastic selection of museums, art galleries and theatres to excellent restaurants and bars.

Glasgow is one of the best cities in Europe for shopping. There are many designer stores as well as many large shopping malls and department stores. It has so much energy and style and its people are some of the friendliest you'll find anywhere. There is always something to do and see in the friendly and vibrant city of Glasgow.

COURSES

Teachers deliver a personalised programme designed  to develop the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. They aim to increase student's awareness of English grammar and to extend their vocabulary. In  class students will work in pairs or small groups so they have the chance to speak as much English as possible. Teachers plan and prepare their lessons so that they are interactive and motivating, therefore students  will have a lot of fun in class. At the end of the course, students receive a certificate indicating the progress they have made.

Students will have to do a standard placement test at the start of the course, all teaching material is provided, there are 15 hours of classes a week. Classes are held in the mornings and are limited to a maximum of 15 students, ensuring optimum learning conditions.

There is a variety of student centred, interactive learning activities and resources and well planned English Language lessons that encourage the development of reading, writing, listening and speaking, a range of learning approaches and activities to meet the needs of all. Learning approaches  reflect that students have different preferred learning styles. There are opportunities for students to work in a variety of groupings: as individuals, in pairs, small groups and as a whole class and a  range of high quality extra-curricular activities which allow the students to develop their English Language skills in a more informal context.There is also an accompanied half day and full day excursion each week. Successful students are awarded a ‘Certificate of Completion’ detailing achievements and skill levels.

 

ACCOMMODATION

En-suite Accommodation

With 200 bed spaces, the provision will include en-suite student bedrooms with communal kitchen/living facilities. The rooms provide space for a larger than average bed, a desk and carefully planned storage. Student lounges and laundry are also be contained within the residences. All open plan spaces and communal areas within the building benefit from clear views in and out through glazed facades.

The new CGC campus offers students the opportunity to experience an exceptional academic environment in a truly unique setting.

CARE AND WELFARE

The aim of the school's  staff, at all times, is to ensure that its visitors enjoy every aspect of Scotland from the moment they meet you at the airport until they wave goodbye as students return home.

The safety and security of visitors is of critical importance  the safety and happiness of  students is the school's priority during their stay with us in Scotland.

Every member of staff is on hand to ensure that students are happy in their studies and in their everyday life . Staff  are ready to offer advice and they are easy to talk to. There is a dedicated Welfare Coordinator on each campus 24 hours a day to help students with any matters.

 

EXCURSIONS

You will go on full day excursions and half day excursions. A very important part of visiting the UK is enjoying the culture, history and beauty of the country. Your excursion programme has been carefully planned so that you can see and learn about many new things. Your Student Diary has information and activities about the places you will go to. The teachers and activity leaders will also help you with facts and information about your visits

Daily Activities

Activities and sports are carefully planned for all Ages, abilities and interests. Examples of day activities are:

Football, Volleyball, Basketball and Handball • Rugby and American Football • Indoor Hockey and Rounders • Aerobics and Boxercise • Badminton • Cultural Walks • Jewellery Making and Nail Art workshops • Drama workshops

Evening Activities

In the evenings you will have the opportunity to participate in fun activities interacting with the rest of the students on campus. During these activities you will meet friends from different cultures, relax and, of course, practise your English.

EXCURSIONS

A very important part of a visit to Scotland is soaking up the history and atmosphere of this proud and vibrant nation. The school, through years of experience, tries to ensure that their visitors experience as much as possible of the culture and mystery of Scotland.

We therefore ensure that students see such special places as:

  • The historic and beautiful City of Edinburgh, the Capital of Scotland.
  • The vibrant and 'New' Glasgow, City of Culture.
  • Stirling, a City of Mystery, the Castle and the Wallace Monument.
  • The Town of St Andrews, 'The Home of Golf', not to be missed.
  • Loch Lomond and The Trossachs, the heart and soul of Scotland.

In addition to these excursions there are a variety of walks and tours organised at each of our centres to local places of interest.

 

DAMAGE DEPOSIT

On arrival, every student is required to pay a deposit of £40 against possible damage or loss of keys. This deposit will be refunded on departure providing that no damage or loss of keys has taken place.

 

EXTRA CHARGES

There is an extra charge of £75 for unaccompanied minors
