About Us Established 2009 TECLA Languages is pleased to introduce some of her most valuable and experienced language teachers and cultural trainers. Barry Tomalin MA, Dip. Ed. Barry is a former BBC broadcaster and radio producer and is Director of Cultural Training at International House, London, one of the world's leading language and cultural training organisations.  He is a Visiting Lecturer at the University of East Anglia, the UniversIty of Westminster and the London Academy of Diplomacy. He is  a qualified English language teacher and trainer specialising in cross-cultural communication and the author of 'The World's Business Cultures and How to Unlock Them’ (Thorogood Publications 2007) and of Culture Smart: Italy (Kuperard Publications) under the pen name of Charles Abbott.  He trains in English and in French and has worked in over 50 countries during his career. Raquel Hernández Raquel is from Madrid, Spain.  She has been teaching Spanish in Adult Education for over 22 years.  Raquel started in Auckland, New Zealand, first, at the University of Auckland and then at the School of Languages of Unitec where she coordinated the Spanish programme.  In 2004 she received Unitec's Teaching Excellence Award of which she is very proud. Raquel also did private tuition and really enjoyed teaching staff for the New Zealand Pavillion for the 1992 World Expo in Sevilla.  In London some of her students are from White & Case, Deutche Bank and the Indonesian Embassy.  She is a very motivated teacher who in turn loves to motivate students and strongly believes that the key to the foreign culture is the language.  It opens a new universe which is both challenging and exciting Matteo Pastore Matteo has studied Foreign language at the University "L'Orientale" of Naples where he  graduated in English and Japanese in mid 2005. He attended a Master in Teaching Italian to foreigners at the University for Foreigners of Siena and worked as a freelance translator mainly from Japanese to Italian. He has worked as a teacher of Italian within different contexts: public institutions, junior high school and finally "Saena Julia" school for foreigners. After two years in Siena he moved to Japan where he worked for a year and a half as main Italian teacher at the Nichii Gakuing called school for foreign languages in Osaka. He then moved back to Italy where he taught Italian at the "Accademia Leonardo" and he is now working in London as an Italian teacher and a translator. Toshio Tsunamoto Toshio did his masters at the University of London and since then has been teaching Japanese.  First he taught Japanese at the Language Centre of the SOAS of the University of London, then he moved to the Department of the Japanese Studies, where he taught University students majoring Japanese language and culture.  In the department, he also taught British diplomats.  While  working in the department, he was also required to conduct research in teaching the language and everything to do with Japanese culture.  He left SOAS after about ten years and has been teaching Japanese at various language schools in London and carrying on research in teaching foreign languages (not just Japanese) he is a member of the British Association of Teaching Japanese.   English Language Schools Books, Music, Films Terms & Conditions TECLA Languages London telephone number: +44 (0) 203 014 8949
